Juventus today completed the signing of Jean Alain Boumsong from Newcastle for E4.8m, roughly equivalent to £3.2m.

However this fee could rise based on Juventus' future performances, meaning the club could net approximately £4m from his sale, recouping almost half the £8.5m spent to bring him to the club from Rangers in January 2005.

Boumsong has signed a 4 year contract with Juventus, now in Serie B following the match fixing scandal which devastated Italian football. In all, the Frenchman made 59 appearances for the club in around 18 months, but failed to build on his promising debut season with some disastrous performances at the back last season costing the team goals and ultimately, points. He failed to find the net in his Newcastle tenure.

We wish Boumsong well for his future career, and he may even be back on Tyneside as early as next summer, with the club confirming that they have agreed to a preseason friendly next summer against the Italian outfit.
