With just a little over a day remaining until the transfer window closes, Newcastle have added a much needed striker to the squad, agreeing a deal to sign Man Utd's Italian striker Giuseppe Rossi on loan until January.

The 19 year old American born player is unable to feature against Man Utd as part of the deal, but will offer some much needed attacking options up front.

He has scored 4 times for Man Utd in only 14 senior appearances, and will expect more playing time on Tyneside than at Old Trafford this season. The highly rated Italian has been prolific in the reserves, scoring 42 goals in 49 appearances in the past two seasons, including several hat tricks.

He will join Obafemi Martins as the two new striking recruits made by Glenn Roeder this summer, though there may yet be more recruits made elsewhere in the squad before the window slams shut in 24 hours. Previously, Roeder had said he was 99% certain of adding two players to the squad, and Rossi appears to be one of them.
