Aston Villa are trying one more time to pry James Milner out of Newcastle’s grip with a deal rumoured to be worth between £4 million and £5 million.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Villa, and became popular within the club and with the fans.

But with the unrest at Villa, and Roeder desperate to keep him, Milner seemed set to stay at St. James’ Park.

But with a new chairman, a new manager, and Villa beating Newcastle 2-0, the midlands club have revealed James Milner is in Birmingham for talks.

Villa said:

"The club can confirm that James Milner is travelling down to the West Midlands to discuss a permanent move to Villa."
