Given in Hospital

Newcastle United goalkeeper Shay Given has been taken to hospital after sustaining an injury in Newcastle’s 2-0 victory over West Ham.

The Irish international had a collision with West Ham’s Marlon Harwood and claimed to be suffering abdominal pains.

 

Given has not travelled back to Tyneside with his team-mates, but has stayed overnight in London for a check-up in a local hospital.

 

A Newcastle United spokesperson said:

 

"He has got abdominal pains and is going to hospital to be checked out."
