Newcastle United manager Glenn Roeder has supported the clubs attempt to get compensation for the injured Michael Owen.
Owen injured his knee at World Cup 2006 and has been out ever since, with his injury expected to rule him out well into the New Year.

Roeder said:
"I would have liked to have played Michael Owen in every game this season,"
"To have lost the services of not only Alan Shearer and now Michael Owen for what could possibly be the whole year is very tough on the club.
"It is totally unfair when international players go away and get injured - and in Michael's case, badly injured - not to expect the national team to have to pay compensation to the club that has had the loss."
