Two goals in two minutes from El-Hadji Diouf allowed Bolton to move to third in the Premiership, as Newcastle lose again.

Newcastle started off well, playing the game at a high tempo with both forwards, Obafemi Martins and Shola Ameobi looking lively.

However, neither could get a clean shot on the Bolton goal despite well placed crosses from Emre and Peter Ramage.

Newcastle took the lead after 19 minutes when Martins put a ball into the box which clipped Fayes hand as it went past. The referee gave a penalty and Ameobi sent the goalkeeper the wrong way, placing it in the bottom-right corner to give Newcastle a 1-0 lead.

With just Anelka upfront, Bolton were struggling to get anything going, but after a mis-hit from Scott Parker, Davis had a shot which was palmed away by Harper. The goalkeeper then showed quick thinking to punch the ball away from the feet of Anelka.

Ramage put the ball high and wide from 6 yards out and after the break, Martins nearly made it 2-0 until Jaaskelainen tipped it to saftey.

It has been all Newcastle until on 55 minutes, Carr made a mistake letting Faye's cross find Anelka who gave it to Diouf, who had alread beaten Bramble and netted to make it 1-1.

Just 2 minutes later it was 2-1 to Bolton after Bramble failed to mark Diouf again, who headed home after a knock-on from Davies.

The game died down then, with Martins having the only real chance for Newcastle with a long-range drive, but to no avail.
