Newcastle United midfielder James Milner has stated that he fully expects to remain at St. James' Park during the January transfer window, and will not move to Aston Villa, or be swapped for Charlton's Darren Bent.

Milner spent last season on loan at Aston Villa and it is reported the Midlands club are interested in signing the winger.

The 20-year-old was expected to move to Villa in the summer and even had a medical before Newcastle pulled the plug on the deal just hours before it went through.

There have also been sketchy rumours that Milner may be involved in a swap deal for Charlton's Darren Bent, but the former-Leeds United midfielder hopes to stay at St. James' Park.

Milner said:

"I think I'll still be here in January,"

"When you're at a club like Newcastle I certainly hope so."
