After weeks of speculation it appears Glenn Roeder has finally resigned as Newcastle manager paving the way for Sam Allardyce to take the reins.

Since Big Sam resigned from Bolton last week speculation has increased over the date of which he would replace Roeder, but until this evening Roeder has stood his ground and dismissed reports.

Freddie Shepherd also refused to comment stating only;

"I'm not going to comment any more on it. I had the same thing last year. It is getting crazy. We'll get the season out of the way, and then start saying things."
