Coleman is nobody's #2

Former Fulham manager Chris Coleman will NOT be making a move to Tyneside after wide speculation linking him with the job as Kevin Keegans number 2. Coleman's agent Alan Smith has tonight declared his client as a manager in his own right and nobody's number 2.

Smith said:

"Chris is a football manager in his own right and I couldn't see him wanting to be a No.2 to anyone.

He did well at Fulham, did well at Sociedad and I don't see the chemistry between him and Kevin.

He just will have to wait for someone to get off the merry-go-round but I can't think for one moment it will be at Newcastle.

There are certain people that are managers and certain people who are No.2s. There is no doubt in my mind Chris is a No.1."

A bold statement considering his client has just stepped down from a short spell (6 months) as manager of Real Sociedad, a resignation some may consider forced.

He'll still come despite what Smith says, but then again, even if he doesn't I'd be happy if Shearer got it tbh.

Those are arrogant words. He just got canned by a Spanish second-division club. Yeah, I guess he can be the #1 for a third division club. That's a lot better gig than #2 at NUFC.
