13 Toon Players On International Duty

Newcastle United manager Kevin Keegan will be suffering a preseason from hell as he prepares his side with 13 players missing due to International duty at various times. Any idea of rebuilding the side AND overseeing any new and old players learning to work together will be difficult to implement with such a large number absent. Keegan will be missing:

  1. Damien Duff who be playing for Republic of Ireland against Serbia on May 24th.
  2. Emre who has already travelled to train with Turkey ahead of Euro 2008.
  3. Obafemi Martins,
  4. Habib Beye,
  5. Abdoulaye Faye  &
  6. Geremi who are all actively involved in World Cup qualifiers.
  7. Charles N'Zogbia will travel to France to participate in the under 21 games.
  8. Andy Carroll will play in Belarus this month with England's under 19's.
  9. Michael Owen will represent England against the USA and Trinidad & Tobago later this month and in early June.
  10. Whilst Tamas Kadar (Hungary),
  11. Fabio Zamblera (Italy) &
  12. Ole Soderberg (Sweden) will all be playing for their age appropriate International teams throughout the summer break.
  13. Whilst David Rozenhal who is currently on loan at Lazio with a view to a permenant move will be in action for Czech Republic in Euro 2008.

Any bets on who blows out some bodypart first? I'll take Emre, to be sidelined for six months with hammer toe.(Sm16)

I am struggling to convince myself Emre will return for next season to be honest.

I find it VERY bizarre that he was released early for International duty when he had failed to return for us through injury......

Bit weird.

However I HOPE he stays.

Duff will get injured

I can't see Emre here next season either.

I picked up on that too, Carys. I think he's done here. He should bring in a good fee. I hope we get Arshavin or Elano to replace him.

So Emre could potentially be off to Galatasary... How much do you reacon we could get for him - or should be aiming for recoup.

Part of a deal for Arda Turan perhaps?
