Barton To Villa or Pompey?

Aston Villa is said to be one of two clubs trying to sign Newcastle bad boy Joey Barton. Barton who featured briefly in Newcastle's 3-0 defeat against Arsenal at the weekend, is likely to be punished by the FA on Friday as they decide what action to take following his training ground assault on former team-mate Ousmane Dabo.

He could potentially face a 12month ban, but this doesn't seem to be scaring off the competition as both clubs who are interested are said to be top ten Premier League contenders.

Barton who was booed by Arsenal fans on Saturday and who immediately got stuck in with a challenge on Arsenal's Nasri has remained a Newcastle player despite much speculation over the continuation of his contract, when he was serving time in prison.

Portsmouth could be the second team showing interest as fans debate whether he is really worth the hassle, though the source is unconfirmed.

Dont care where he goes - just let him go... get rid of large salary too.

i would be SO happy if the left today, him leaving would feel like a new signing!
