Richard Bevan of the League Managers Association has responded to the Official Newcastle United Club statement released on 6th September 2008. They go on to quote Mike Ashley in several daily newspapers dating back over keegan's time in management with the club which back up what they have to say.
Published on www.Leaguemanagers.com Richard Bevan, LMA chief executive, said:
"Kevin Keegan's chief complaint, amongst others, is that it was always agreed that the director of football could not impose a player that the manager did not want. This agreement has been broken and, notwithstanding the fact that the chairman at the time of Kevin Keegan's appointment, the director of football and the owner of Newcastle United, have confirmed previously in public meetings and publications, that he would always have the final say."
Kevin Keegan said:
"At the time at which I joined Newcastle United Football Club it was made very clear to me that I would have the final say on player movement in and out of the club."
They responded to this statement
I can clearly recall when Wise was unveiled that Mort and others said that Keegan would have the final say and not wise.

Its a continental thing that.
This is England and in England we play football the English way.
Why the fu<k, chairman feel the need to appoint a "director of football" is beyond me
Too many cooks spoil the broth.
