Newcastle host Manchester City tomorrow night in their fifth home game of the season. They will be looking to secure their second win of the season and their first under interim manager Joe Kinnear. Both teams have lost 4 games a-piece this season, whilst City have won 2 matches more than Newcastle.
However, City are well ahead in the scoring stakes with 18 goals this season compared to Newcastle's 7, Newcastle have also conceded more than City. As a result Newcastle will be looking to pull themselves back out of the bottom three whilst Manchester's richist club will be trying to break into the top ten.
Newcastle will be without striker Michael Owen as he recovers from a groin strain picked up in training earlier in the week. Habib Beye (Achilles) is a possibility to play a part as is Jonas Gutierrez, (collarbone) whilst Obafemi Martins is in with a 50% chance to start in Owen's absence, despite not being due back from injury for another week or so.
Mark Viduka and Alan Smith remain sidelined with long term injuries, (Achilles and Stress fracture) and Joey Barton is unavilable as he completes his 6 match ban.
Mark Hughes's City side will be without Bulgarian Martin Petrov who suffered knee ligament damage whilst on International duty and also Pablo Zabaleta who will begin his 3 match suspension after being red carded against Liverpool.
Brazilian Robinho could start despite a minor knock whilst on International duty.
Newcastle go into the game after their worst start to a Premier League campaign in 9 seasons, whereas Manchester City will be looking to secure their 3rd successive league win against Newcastle at St james' Park, for the first time ever.

Striking options extend to Ameobi, Xisco and Duff.

According to Nufc.co.uk their articles have all been published hours after this one.
All of the above players are still being named as in the squad except Gutierrez.
No line ups have been reported (as you suggest) as you would know if you read the article.

This is when it would be good if the ref could reinstate a player at h/t after reviewing a poor decision, rather than after the final whistle when its worthless.

haha Ameobi, top goal to get past the two defenders. He's played very well for the amount of time Newcastle has had in possession. I think people are going to have to take him serious now.

well done nearly got all 3 points with 10 for most of the game !!! anyone think we have turned the corner now ? i do and when you look at our next few games we should pick a good few points with good solid team performances like this and gets us away from the bottom WELL PLAYED LADS

We'll most likely have Jonas, Barton and Owen back for the next game, and a fitter Martins also, getting a result tonight after being a goal and a man down after only 14mins is very good, we could have just folded under the pressure. Hopefully this is where our season finally gets going.

There are many positives to take from tonight though.

However I was totally vexed with all the ball watching we were doing. The whole midfield Damien Duff excluded, were just backing off backing off backing off and not one of them were steping up to make the challenge or put the man with the ball under pressure.
Man City's second goal could have easily been prevented if we stopped ball watching and just had someone step up to make a tackle or pressure the player.
Damien Duff was my man of the match. Shola did really well too. Shola's first touch is terrible, but if you play it to him in the air his ball control excellent.
And I'm not impressed with Danny Guthrie at all. He holds onto the ball too long, backs off too much. For example, he lets a man run by him and points for someone else to mark him, while the man with the ball is being marked by, all the while he is ball watching and a man is free behind him.
He trys unecessary skills giving the ball away (chesting it out of play) when a simple pass would suffice. I'm sure Guthrie will be sacrificed for Joey Barton at the Sunderland game and rightly so. I don't like Alan Smith, but if he was fit, I'd have him in ahead of Guthrie, you know for sure smith isn't going to back off a player and do nothing. He's going to get stuck in and make a challenge and pressurize.
Andy Carrol, held the ball up well. However with 14 minutes, surely you have the energy to run and pressure the defenders when they're on the ball rather than just stand there and watch.

I think you referring to Carroll and not Edgar. But overall good performance from all the players tonight and we can hold our heads high. Onwards and upwards I say now.

Everytime Robinho went down he was looking at the ref and smirking at his mates. Came to the end and my dad was saying things like "if that had been robinho he would have gone down" etc especially when had the city bloke gone down it would probably have been a 2nd penalty.
