POLL RESULTS: 72% Want Kinnear To Stay
By Tyne-Talk
November 19 2008
The fans want Interim manager Joe Kinnear's to stay at the club if Mike Ashley cannot sell. That's the verdict of the latest Tyne-Talk poll which saw 72% of voters preferring to see Kinnear stay at the club if it cannot be sold. Kinnear's current contract is due to expire at the end of the week and there has been no informative news on the sale of the club.
Kinnear has previously indicated that he would love the
job on a permanent basis but there has been no news from Newcastle United as to what will happen from Saturday onwards.

If im not mistaken this poll was launched some weeks ago before our current run of bad form and bad decisions by Kinnear.
Its also a strange question that needs some considered thought. If he cant sell and decides to keep the club then I would want the best manager the club could get.
If we are talking about til the end of the season then I guess we have to stick with him.

I also agree, TB, but on the point that question is problematic.
Saying that I "would keep" Kinnear, under any specific set of circumstances, is not the same as saying I "want" him to manage this team.

fair point there, why didn't they ask "when should kinnear be sacked? a) now b) when ashley sells c) never"
that would've delved a bit deeper into the psyche.

I have a feeling there is going to be lots going on over the weekend and that some stability might arrive next week.
Joe originally said all would be revealed after the Chelsea game.
The guy selling the club said he hoped to have some news towards the end of the month.
We have this week had all this shearer talk from his good mate rob lee, which has not been denied.
And... Ive just flipped a coin and it landed on heads which stood for everything been sorted this weekend.
On a seperate note, a few weeks ago joe was estatic to be rescued from the scrapheap, now every paper seems to be filled daily with his bleating for a better deal. Joe, shut up and sort the team out, thats what you were brought in to do and thats what you said you would do.

My guess is that after the Chelsea game we'll be told we'll know all by the opening of the January window.
I am a cynic.

I'm not one of the 72% if I'm honest. I'm not calling for his head as that would do no good and he's obviously better than nothing.
But I'm just totally unconvinced by him...he's like an embarrasing drunk uncle and I find myself constantly worrying that he is going to drop himself in the @#$%& or make an @rse of himself.
I think he's a straight talker and that he's given the players a bit of a kick up the @rse....not really the best man for the long term though.

I don't think he's the man to take us forward, but if he's going to be allowed to buy players then he should be given the job fulltime. Otherwise we're intentionally rushing headlong into another Roeder situation.
