Hughton Offered The Job Full Time

Newcastle United caretaker manager Chris Hughton has told how he is honoured to have been offered the job as manager of the club after Mike Ashley offered him a contract on Sunday. In a statement he confirmed that he is in negotiations.

He said;

"I am honoured to be offered the job. We are still in negotiations, but it is something we hope will get resolved.

I have always felt that the manager's situation was an issue, but not the most important one. Getting results has been the most important thing. Once we have got Scunthorpe and Doncaster out of the way, we will have discussions with Derek Llambias.

It will involve moving from caretaker to manager on a full-time basis. They have indicated to me that they want to turn it from a temporary role to a permanent one."

Recent rumours have suggested that Mike Ashley, who has reduced to the asking price of the club from £100M to £80M, could be planning to take it off the market and stay put.

At the weekend Tyne-Talk began a new poll asking for the reader's verdict on whether Hughton should be put in post on a permanent basis, 89% of 80 votes so far have been against the move with just 11% wanting him to become manager.

Agree trotter. Its like the Lovenkrands deal. We have him then let him go, then when nobody else wants him and the season has started we get him on a three year deal. He should have been offered a one year.

It will all end in tears.

lovenkrands?now that he got his deal now hes pants. total bull bout him not being matchfit. dont trust hughton in transfer market as of now he has signed a slow defender in that georgian and a big plank like harewood simpson is canny though. long hard season next season if we go up. if we dont go up this season god help us next season,more top players will be sold the puppet, i mean hughton will just stand by and not complain and have no money for new players he will sign nobodies on loan and could have us fight relegation to league 1

this is a strong sign that the fat one is planning on keeping the club, having a permanent manager to sack and pay compensation to will put off potential buyers,

As for hughton getting the job we now have a lower league management team in hughton and calderwood to try and get us back in the premier league, its a disaster waiting to happen

Hopefully the negotiations he mentioned are that he gets a decent amount of money to spend in january
