Newcastle United, where it all went wrong

Almost a year ago there were protests in the streets, and Ashley said he was leaving, going just like that without a kiss or anything. Obviously I was upset; I thought we had something special, he wore the same top as me. I am obviously a simple minded soul, who can easily be placated with a replica t-shirt.

Still the love affair was well and truly over and he was off with that delightful Mr. Wise in tow.

Only he didn't, again the call to arms come, we will march in the streets, the brain-dead that seem to hang about Shearers bar waiting to attack any available sky TV crew with their crushingly boring inane utterances, claiming to speak for me, will be out in force.

(This is a tangent I will grant you, but do they deliberately seek out the thick ones? The weaker members of the heard if you will. There are thousands of eloquent, bright well informed Geordies, its just Sky never manages to find one, coincidence or conspiracy, you decide).

And what will it achieve?

Nothing! Ashley will still be in charge, we will still be in the same position, so I suggest a change of attack.

When Robert Maxwell, took over at an American daily, the printers started cheering, a young printer asked an older one why they were cheering, to which the reply came ‘always cheer the fat bastard with the money son.'

So that is what I suggest we cheer him.

We fete him.

There's only one Mike Ashley (while keeping the thank god bit in your head).

We make him happy.

He spends money, we get players, we get back to where we belong.

It will stick in the throat I will grant you, but nothing else has worked so far.

When we became fans, we didnt care who sat in the directors box, we cared about the 11 on the field. Nothing has changed for me. I will cheer Andy Carroll as loudly as i did Tony Cunningham, Alan Shoulder, Micky Burns, Alex Mathie and many other unfashionable players. AND when our lass and the bairns go christmas shopping, you can guarantee their first stop will be the club shop and i will gladly receive anything they buy for me because they know that i love my club, warts and all.

Ashley wont walk cause we say he has too. We have no say in the matter, all we achieve is alerting the national press that we are revolting again and they will turn us into a laughing stock again. We revolted against Shepherd and Allardyce and look where that got us. We sometimes create our own problems.

boo him, fete him, ignore him, all the same. doesnt mean a thing.
and since no-one could ever co-ordinate any kind of boycott on a meaningful level, ie more than a few thousand, there is no 'fan power', not in the sense that an immediate impact could be effected.
no, we are along for the ride as ever, however we all may each feel about it.
over a period of time a change in numbers attending would have an effect, but that would be down to people dropping out at their own speed, so will be gradual and allow for reaction by the owners without the confrontational aspect a real boycott would bring. lets hope that doesnt happen, cos that would mean we had dropped even further, enough to cause real apathy. the kind of person who wants a boycott is the kind who also will attend regardless of the product on the pitch, which is why it will never work!

Well said Rodders, chairmans come and go. We hated Shepherd and thought things couldn't get worse but they did. Ashley will eventually go and then we role the dice again.

Fate seems to have unlimited patience for coming up with new answers to the question:

"Can it get any worse?"
