Newcastle United: What is actually going right?

After several doom laden articles pontificating on all that is mad and bad about my club, I thought I would try and lighten the mood with what is good about it, in case we have all forgotten.
Highest crowds in the championship by a bloody mile!
Smith seems to have remembered how to play football (although not score, still one miracle at a time).
We got rid of the money grabbing scouse dwarf.
But mainly for me what has gone right is one man in particular Chris Hughton. He has us sitting at the top of the league, with a thread bare squad. For the most part playing attractive football.
Through every adversity, he keeps a quiet dignity about him. Every question answered with polite confidence and did I mention we were top of the league.
It sometimes appears to me that we forget the main business of Newcastle United should be football. We unfortunately have no control over who owns our club, or what players we keep or acquire.
We could all spit our dummies out of the pram should we wish and sue the club, like one former ‘legend' did.
We could all stop going because a fat cockney that no-one wants is in charge and ripping us off.
Or we could do what most of us I suspect will do, grin and bear it, and for that reason, isn't it about time we got behind the one man that has stood by us through thin and thinner?
Chris has made the best of a bad lot, and for my money proved himself the best manager we've had since we stupidly parted with Robson.
Would he have been my choice? No.
Would Shearer for that matter? No.
Chris has done a bloody good job with nothing, now is the time to back him whole heartedly.

We should all get behind 1 manager for 1 full season and see where that kind of stability takes us.
Shearer has NO experience and Chris Hughton is streets ahead, even years ahead of Shearer in the experience department. There is a reason why all the players have come out publicly and backed Hughton and given him ringing endorsements. because he is doing a great job. I mean for once in many years there is a great team spirit.
Hughton certainly wasn't my choice as manager but the man deserves the job.
Great job he's doing, long may it continue.
If we win promotion(looks more and more likely) we will certainly be the stronger for it and stay up in the Premier League the following season. We actually have team of men and none of the cowardice of last season that got us relegated.
He has got us top of the league on a small team and little players coming in on loan. He as done great job and deserves all the credit he gets.
If a time comes when the fans call for his head if results don't go the right way and it will, I hope we stick with him as in the past we change to often and we need a longterm manager. Previously we have had big names and failed, why not try a manager who can actually manage the players
Further, the kids coming through are of a higher caliber than we've seen in a while, which is good. Also, we're topping the league without having spent so much as a dime on new player purchases this year. The squad is also playing for the badge and one another (though I wonder what effect dropping the Barton bomb into the dressing room will have).
Oh, and black and white stripes are still hot, of course.
HOWAY THE LADS!!!

I would like to see him get offered a longer contract if we get up and get off to a good start to continue to offer stability that the club hasn't had for ages
