Mike, for the love of God strengthen in January!

Newcastle United I will grant you is currently sitting pretty happy at the top of the league. More from luck than judgment we have a good manager. And its all been done spending nothing. I bet your smugness meter must be through the roof, but now is not the time for complacency.
Our squad is threadbare; we desperately need more bodies through the door. The injury curse will return it always does, now as there is no point appealing to your better nature I am going to give you three very good reasons to strengthen come January.
1) It will be worth your while, we will be worth a hell of a lot more in the premiership and your beloved bottom line will be so much healthier, speculate to accumulate, my little Bunter.
2) Apparently you're due up in court for financial matters, now it's only fair to state at this point that I know nothing about international finance. I do however know a thing or two about courts and I will swear you were with me when the alleged incident happened.
3) There is a small crippled boy in hospital, I know this for a fact, because I crippled him. And unless we get some signings in January, I am going back to finish the job.
So all in all whichever way we look at it, it makes sense.

I agree we need to start looking for talent for the top league and I would bring in some loans for the fizzy pop league to add some depth in case of injury
--are thin on defense
--lack the "engine room" mid that can control a game and be creative at the PL level
--and I wonder if we can ride Shola, Ranger, Carroll as our strikers.
Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy about our performance so far, but to avoid yo-yo'ing we need depth and more quality across the XI--otherwise we are back to relegation battles like the last couple years.
Upon promotion, Mike needs to buy a lot or sell FAST. If he's still selling, I'd rather the process start with 1/4 of the season left and us 15 points clear at the top so that the new owner can come in splashing to ensure we stay up and perform respectably.
Merry Christmas to all. Even sunderland fans.

As Ashley has done nothing to our squad except let players go (e.g. Milner), we are in the exact same position now as we were a year ago when it comes to competing in the PL. Yes, we are doing fine where we are, but come promotion we still:
--are thin on defense
--lack the "engine room" mid that can control a game and be creative at the PL level
--and I wonder if we can ride Shola, Ranger, Carroll as our strikers.
