It is actually nice to see us use some money, compared to the summer window. It actually looks like Ashley may keep the club as it seems like he is planning for next season

Think he might be just trying to secure promotion rather then planning for next season but I know what you mean pal. Suppose he could do both things at once with the players being brought in good enough to maybe do a job in the premier. If not least its increasing the squad.

Was going to start a new thread but might as well add it to this. Im sick of a small section of the fans still chanting anti-Ashley songs. It makes no sense and will achieve nothing. With the state of other clubs, premier and championship, Im counting the clubs blessings with having been bought no matter what things he has done wrong.

We are top of the league without having to spend any money. We are now bringing in a few players and it looks like looking for more. IF we do go up without, relatively, spending any money. Then that might leave a good chunk of wedge to be invested in the summer on 3-4 quality players.

There has even been a few boo's around during some recent matches which I find unbelievable. Im sure Ashley would still sell the club if the right offer was tabled but at least we are heading in the right direction.

It is achieving nothing and we need to move on from giving Ashley stick at the games, if not all we do is keep living in the past. Ashley has done cr@p by us, but this season he has done ok, cut the wage bill, we have bought a few players and pushiing for promotion.

It would be great if Ashley moved on but then it is a gamble on who we get, unless we get the Man City style owners then I think I would rather keep him, and I never thought I was going to say that. Look at the mess at the other clubs, spend big for a couple of years, most don't win out and then run the risk of going into administration.

Ashley may be a kn@b but he will run the club on what we can afford. Maybe if we stopped mentioning his name then we would have a better chance of getting some more cash of him in the summer if we reach the premiership

batten down the hatches, spend a couple of boring mid table prem seasons (please) and wait for a couple of big clubs to come crashing down under the weight of their debt. this is the only thing which will change the rules and level the playing field. we cant compete with the kind of money being thrown around at the top, and if we could it would surely be a completely empty experience.
i now hope liverpool and man utd go bust. its what it will take to make the game change in this country. they will be back, and quicker than leeds, because they are too big to be allowed to go missing for long. we need a ground shaking event, hopefully more than one, to get things moving

It is scary at how much the likes of Man U and Liverpool are in debt. I think there were some threads last year from yourself LMK on the subject. Whether Man U keep on spending to keep up with the pace but risk getting into a spiral of debt.

Think massive buys are a thing of the past for man u for the moment. Bit more caution needs to be taken, not 60 mill on Nani, Berb and Anderson.

Thats why I like and respect Arsenal/Wenger so much. Even with money to spend he will not spunk it for the sake of it.

I would be more than happy with a few years of consolidation espec as 16 years in the premier seemed to fly over the last time. Here is hoping.

There is nothing wrong in trying to stay in the premier league without having the biggest ambitions and just build the squad, so many clubs go for it and fail. Unless you can write of 100-150 million then this is the wise move.

Lots of clubs move up the table without spending huge amounts, Everton and Fulham are great examples of having a good manager and buying players with potential. I would be more than happy to follow in this way.

Unless Man U and Liverpool get takeovers they will crash and burn and I can't wait. Both clubs are stuck up thier own @#$%&. The difference is if they did they would never come back especially United as they could never get over thier debt

This is also why I do not want City to succeed, especially if it would be at the expense of Arsenal (though it looks to be at the expense of LFC at this point...).

LMK hit the nail on the head. "IT WOULD BE AN EMPTY EXPERIENCE". I for one would not thank you for having Man City's type of wedge and having to watch some players like Robinio picking up scandalous money and just not giving a toss.

I dont want those days back. You either want to come here for the right reasons or you can f00k off. One contract nowadays will make you a millionaire (look at Simpson for instance) so have some integrity.

here here. lets build something with the strength of the clubs who have to stick to a budget and go strongly on team ethics, but with a few more quid since we are capable of making more cash available than bolton or burnely, etc

This transfer window has given me the confidence and hope again in the club, but have to be careful of not getting away like I was every season in the premiership. I think if we could be wise in the premiership and not spend stupid amounts on players who don't give a t@ss then we should be ok.

If the club can get out of this league, be debt free, pay the fees and wages that we can afford and build the club and it will take years then I can see us over a few seasons moving up the league. Many of the clubs are struggling financially and when they come crashing down we are laughing.

The club made loads of money each season in the premiership but sp@nk@d it away, proply managed we will be in a great position and a great investment for a new owner
