Routledge To Miss Barnsley Match

Newcastle United's Wayne Routledge will remain sidelined for this weekend's game against Barnsley. The midfielder who missed last weekend's win over Watford due to a calf injury will be rested by manager Chris Hughton so not to aggravate it further.
Hughton told Nufc.co.uk;
"We will be without Wayne, but the good news is that Peter Lovenkrands, Nicky Butt and Jose Enrique should all return.
However, we'll still also be without Shola Ameobi and Steven Taylor."

OK, this is what, three games? Four? Have we heard any explanation of what his injury is? I don't think you can describe something that sidelines a guy for a month as a "knock"...

Calf injuries are rough because they make it nearly impossible to get any push with your leg. A pulled hamstring is hard to run on but you can at least get your foot off the ground without looking like you're going up stairs.
That said, your calf is also one of the hardest muscles to injure, so I'd like to know exactly what happened. The only thing I can think of is that it's a bone bruise, but all the ones I had were referred to by the joint rather than the muscle as they are caused by a jamming. It's something that wouldn't show up on an X-ray, but they would take an MRI if they suspected it. If it is a bone bruise, they tend to heal on their own after about 3-4 weeks, but they are extremely painful for those weeks.
/I was more injury prone than Michael Owen in my playing days. 2 cartalidge injuries in the knee (MCL and Medial Miniscus), a dislocated shoulder, bruised hip, and a sprained achillles.
