Chris Hughton has named Jose Enrique and Peter Lovenkrands in his starting eleven, whilst Nicky Butt returns from injury to a place on the bench. Kevin Nolan captains the side whilst Alan Smith is absent through a knock he picked up in training, giving Fabrice Pancrate his first starting place since Newcastle last played Barnsley. Tamas Kadar and Nile Ranger are both on the bench.

Pancake's got a big chance today, he really needs to prove his worth. Even if he hasn't got much hope of a new contract here he'll want to attract attention from other clus in the Championship.

Glad to see Hughton would rather put Pancrate on the wing than Guthrie there and Butt in the Center. We might get some movement in the middle of the pitch after-all.

It looks like Guthrie has made the centre midfield role his own and we look a far better side with him in the centre

agreed. no reason to make guthrie the fall guy when smith is available, or to move him out wide as has happened before. smith is not the future of our central midfield, so let guthrie have a run til may to show whether he should be

I think the lad can do a job for us in the premiership, so we need to give him a run out and give him the chance of getting more experience in the centre
