Thinks its going to be a good but tough match. Ive got a good feeling and going for 2-0.

They will be physical but with Tiote, Barton, Nolan in the middle I think we will more than match them. Not sure why but I think we are going to need a lot of support from our full backs especially Jose.

Does anyone know the line up?

Would have liked to see Jonas on the Right instead of Routledge. I think Routledge could be more dangerous off the bench then Jonas can.

overall, a bit flat though. understandable when stoke are playing so defensively, but thats the league we are in - you have to be able to get through a wall like stoke somehow or you will never put the points on the board often enough

definitely need another goal, i reckon

could have been even worse. we got pretty much what we deserved today

Can't say im very impressed to be honest

We are just crying out for another striker, and us not signing one in the transfer window was a mistake.

We have Carroll who we play up top on his own with Nolan supporting, but after that, what do we have...Shola.

Shola had a great game midweek but those performances from him are as rare as rocking horse crap.

We need more options upfront, we haven't got them.

this home form needs to turn around quick

Poor home form is a big problem. To not get a point against stoke or blackpool at home is concerning. We can't follow up two great away wins with a performance like that and expect to be playing Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United again next year.

the commentator was right... Barton was too far deep when he received the ball, and then practically 10 SToke players in front of him each time.

Should have tried Ben Arfa in Nolan's role. He cuts inside a lot of time looking for little link up plays.

When is Danny Simpson and Guthrie back? We need more options in midfield and RB.

At least its early in the season and Hughton has time to get this home form turned around.

Would have like to have seen Ranger on for the last 10 mins instead of Routledge too.

It could have been worse, you could have been sitting in Clapham with a mate, who is a Stoke Fan.

Sorry, but a total game of two halves.

We have no different options up front. A lot of people said, including my mates and I today, that the Nolan situation is still a worry. I can understand Nolan away from home but at home it has to be a different situation. Against a team like Stoke who is going to be more effective, another big man up front or a tricky/pacey player either making the runs into the channels or getting to the line and drilling it across.
Whether it is Loven or Ben with both Rout and Jonas on the wings.
Barton made a number of great little balls through the middle with no one to get on the end of them.

Perch was again out of his depth and had a torrid time. He just looks like he sh17s himself whenever he gets the ball. I know we have a few injuries but I think he needs resting for his own good. I understand where LMK is coming from with Raylor but he has more experience and he may just have to be put in until Simpson/S Taylor are back fit. It really is the weak link in our side as espec if Rout is not on his game.

I wouldnt have taken off Cheeko as him being there allowed Barton to push up a little higher. As soon as he was off Barton was very deep.

Always have to take positives though especially as we are doing better than I think most would have thought. I know we conceded 2 goals and Jones was a handfull but i thought Colo was class. He didnt flap and really swept up well. Williamson was canny although as said a tough time against Jones at time. Jose was also very good and wanted to push on as much as he could.

wow well i was at the match today and then decided to watch it on tv tonight again to see somethings I may of missed. I think from the off we were poor the first half we were the better of two poor teams there wasnt much going forward too much and tbh against teams like stoke, blackpool, west brom/ham etc we should be starting with two strikers up front give shola and carroll a shot together with jonas and ben arfa on the wings crossing it in.

I thought Tiote played well today and was suprised/annoyed to see him go off for shola when I personally would of took nolan off. I also would of left ben afra on instead replacing routledge as his touch seems to let him down (gutierrez as well at times mind) and didnt produce anything too good in the 2nd half.

Perch well were do i start.. i dont know but Im very concerned I would of played Raylor over him today as perch was caught out too many times and I think other players are having to move out of position too often to cover for him.

Barton was ok give a couple of silly fouls mind the ref was a bit strange today a couple of strange decisions. a2 corners and sometimes letting play go while other times pulling it back. not that its an excuse. Nolan wasnt at his best yes scored the pen but not a lot else really. Jose decent going forward give a silly foul for the freekick leading to the equalizer. Id go with Gutierez in the left just to link with enrique they have a decent understanding though the whole team needs to move more and help each other out to static sometimes.

Colo for me was our star man today he looked good and won most challenges without giving the ball away and staying composed. Williamson was decent seemed to get pulled out to the right often to cover for perch. Krul was ok nothing to do 1st half.

And finally Carroll looked off the pace he give too many silly fouls away in decent positions but saying that he was isolated which doesn't help, shola was ok when he came on and we looked a bit more threatening.

Rant over - we must be more attacking at home. 3 points lost today they were their for the taking if we showed some fire just after the break.

Personally I'm not too worried, we completely outplayed them.

Stoke are a terrible team, they play anti-football, who for some reason always seems to give us trouble.

If we can raise our home form to match our away form I think we can finish in the top half.

Tiote was mightily impressive today. Ben Arfa was good, although he wasn't given much space. Barton was good in patches. Carroll didn't really get in the game, Huth had his number for the most part.

In my opinion, Hughton has to find room for both Ben Arfa and Jonas in the starting lineup. It's difficult though since both players like to cut inside, which would leave us playing a very narrow style. However, I think Routledge may have to be the one to miss out.

I am confident we will bounce back from this result. I still maintain that there is a different atmosphere among the players this season from times past when KK or Fat Sam et al were in charge.

I'm seeing something different from Colo. He was good in every way but one-he was regularly beaten in the air. It's the weakest aspect of his game and it was predictably exposed against Stoke.

I think CH to be more bold. I called for him to drop Carroll for this match and I stand by that. I don't think he won an important ball in the air all day and another ref likely wouldn't have given the penalty. He needs to get Gutierrez and Ben Arfa on the field at the same time and be willing to take off Nolan (yes, scored the penalty but then wasted our best chance of the second half from Jonas' cross). Also, I agree that we need a more attacking formation, whether 4-4-2 or 4-3-3, for home games.

Williamson's distribution yesterday was absolutely awful, something he needs to work on!

In the second half, as Stoke upped their urgency, Williamson was constantly under pressure and caught in possession too often. Subbing Tiote made this problem worse. Not sure why he came off when he did-I think the need to bring on another attacking option would have been moot if Jonas had come on for Routledge instead of HBA.
