Bid For Barton Rejected

Managing Agent Willie McKay told Sky Sports yesterday that West Ham had come in with an offer for in-form Joey Barton alongside his usual media press release, that several other clubs are also interested in his availability. He also confirmed that the club had rejected the offer.
"I believe West Ham made an enquiry for Joey and that was rejected by Newcastle.
Joey is enjoying his football again and he is committed to Newcastle unless he is told otherwise.
There are other sides interested in Joey as I have had five or six phone calls from teams asking about Joey's availability.
If these interested clubs make an offer for Joey then it is up to the two clubs to agree a deal and once that happens then we can sit down and discuss a possible move."
Barton has just 18 months left on his current contract and is likely to have caught the eye of several clubs, despite his anger management issues.
But would you let him go if the price was right?

But if he struggles to keep up the form under AP, then flog him in the summer
I suppose a lot will go on the new contract as well, and if the toon want to keep him, suppose Ashley may look at getting a big earner of the books

From a football perspective-not signing him to a nice deal would be madness. We can't get anyone of his quality without paying, so why sell him?
We are talking about the Toon and Ashley so anything is possible
