Birmingham City v Newcastle United - Called Off!

Heavy snow across the country means that today's game between Birmingham City and Newcastle United at St Andrews has been called off. It is understood that the ground itself is okay to play on, but officials have deemed the surrounding areas unsafe for fans.
With just 3 hours before kick off when the announcement was made at 12pm, the 3000 Newcastle United fans which have travelled from the North East, won't only be out of pocket, but may also struggle with the return journey, as trains and planes have been grounded at many stations/airports.
So far the following Premier League games have also been postponed.
Wigan v Aston Villa
Liverpool v Fulham
Arsenal v Stoke
Blackburn Rovers v West Ham United and Sunderland v Bolton Wanderers are the only two Premier League games which are still due to go ahead today, whilst Chelsea v Manchester United scheduled for tomorrow has already been postponed.

It's crazy. Airports shut, trains cancelled etc.
There isn't even that much of it!
However, its the culture isn't it, 1 person falls over and sues, seems to be how it is now. The club won't be allowed to clear local roads, because then responsibility is placed on them if anybody has an accident. Sad state of affairs.

Lawsuits, Carys? S.hit, we sue for fun over here and we still don't shut things down for...well, how much snow are we talking about? The commentators for Bolton v. Sunlun said it was 2' deep on Merseyside. Personally, I doubt that...

It is amazing how a bit snow disrupts everything, and it is totally stupid to call of a game when the pitch is playable, fans know if they go there then it is going to be icy.
I blame the americans for the suing culture that the UK has adopted, bit gutted that the game isn't on, as I fancied us to win.

Fully agree, the UK are wusses, a bit snows comes down and people are going crazy in shops and buying enough to survive for months, f@ck me it will be gone in a couple of days.

Right before new year 2000 was the best. People living in city apartments buying diesel generators. cases of canned meats and hundreds of rolls of t.p.

It's been so damn cold here, I wouldn't mind a solid 3-day, 30"+ snow just to make things interesting!

Yeah, that was the worst of it. Duct tape, bottled water, s.hit like that. Not what you'll need if the apocalypse comes. Wiser to stock up on seeds for your garden and rifle shells!

Thanks for the shout, Wasim! The lads have a physically demanding run of matches from 12 Feb -2 April: Blackburn, Birmingham, Bolton, Everton, Stoke and Wolves. Reckon that's the key run for the rest of the season. Not saying we'll get them all but that's 18 very winnable points.
