ROBSON BLAMES THE REF

Sir Bobby Robson has placed the blame on the officials following Newcastle’s 5-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge. Paul Durkin showed Andy O’Brien a red card in the 41st minute and Chelsea were awarded a penalty in which Lampard made the score 3-0.

“The lad is unhappy because Mutu overran the ball, it was outside the box and it wasn't a penalty - so we got a rough decision.”

Robson is understandably unhappy with Durkin’s decision and believes that it cost Newcastle the game…

"They got a penalty and we were reduced to 10 men so it was a double blow and it killed the game for us. It cost us the match basically.” Newcastle Utd have not ruled out appealing against Durkin’s decision.
