Newcastle's hopes of signing Greek international Giorgious Seitaridis in January have been wrecked after the player broke a leg.

Sir Bobby Robson watched the right-back in person when his team took on Rangers at Ibrox in the Champions League last week and was ready to step up his interest.

The fracture, sustained in a tackle during a league match at the weekend, is not thought to be to serious.

Seitaridis is expected to be out of action for at least a month, we will be unable to sign him in the transfer window.
