ROBSON STAYING ON
71 Year old Newcastle United manager Sir Bobby Robson has admitted he is likely to stay on as manager of Newcastle United for one more season, following rumours that he would be stepping down at the end of this current campaign.
ROBSON SAID: "As far as I'm concerned, I will be working here next season.
"I feel fine, I am fit and healthy and I see no reason why I should not carry on.
"I still look forward to going into work every morning. I love what I do and when I stop enjoying what I do, that will be the time to call it a day.
"I'll carry on as long as I feel happy and my health is fine."
Robson is hoping to persuade Alan Shearer to postpone his retirement plans and too stay on for another season. The former England international is intending to play one more season but Robson wants to talk Shearer in to extending his playing career.
"We'll see how it's going with Alan," stated Robson. "I do not want him to pack it in a season too early.
"If he is still doing well and can handle life in the Premier League and at the very top, there's no reason why he can't go on past the end of next season."
