Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer has said that Magpies' fans would probably rather see their team lift the FA Cup than the Premier League title. Could we be the only club in the country which feels this way?

CUP VS TITLE

Alan Shearer: "I might be wrong, but I think we might be the only club in the country where our fans would probably have the FA Cup more than the Premier League, that's how special it is to people up here.

"It's a huge game for us. We've got a dreadful record down at Southampton. I don't think we've won for 30 years or something like that, so it's a long time.

"But they tell me that Blackburn had only won once here in 70-odd years, so something has to change - hopefully.

"It's a huge, huge game for us in more ways than one. One, because of the last two games, and two, because of our exit in the FA Cup last year. That wasn't acceptable.

"When you listen to the draw, what you want is a home draw. We didn't get that, and there were also non-league teams in the draw.

"But it's not an easy draw for Southampton either. We're aware that our record is poor down there.

"The one thing you can do is go down there, prepare and be as ready as you can be, and I can assure everyone that if we get knocked out this time, we'll go out fighting and having a battle and a scrap.

"Not being disrespectful to Southampton, but they're not an Arsenal, they're not a Manchester United and they're not a Chelsea.

"They got to the final last year, so it's going to be a tough game, but it will be a tough game for them as well.

"Yes, there's pressure, but it's not real pressure, is it? There are 52,000 every week. Surely that's a good thing.

"They demand success, they want success and so do we and so does the manager. It's a big football club - that's why we're here, because it's a big football club, and pressure comes with playing for a big club.

"There's expectation. We expect to do very well, we want to do very well."
