Magpies' manager Sir Bobby Robson insists that Celtic striker Henrik Larsson will not be joining Newcastle at the end of the season, despite planning on leaving Parkhead. He has decided on which club he will join but it is not Newcastle.

The Hoops forward will leave Celtic in the summer when his current contract expires, and his availability has sparked interest from a host of interested clubs, including Newcastle.

Sir Bobby was keen to land Larsson at St James Park but has been told he is wasting his time.

He told the News of the World: "We have made further enquiries regarding Henrik Larsson and have been told there is no point in getting involved in a deal for him.

"We have been told the club he is going to at the end of the season and that everything is already sorted out.

"A deal is cut and dried."
