Robson Insists: "No Bid For Leeds Utd Smith"

TRIO RETURN

Sir Bobby Robson has insisted that he knows nothing of a Toon bid for Leeds United striker Alan Smith.

Reports claimed that The Magpies' had tabled a £2m-ish offer for the England international as they look to boos thier striking options for when Alan Shearer retires, but Robson said:

"All I can tell you is that I don't know anything about that. I do know we have [Craig] Bellamy looking really good and on the evidence of what I have seen, he could be back in the team in three weeks, certainly four.

"Shola [Ameobi] will be fit in a week's time, [Kieron] Dyer has done very well for us, Alan [Shearer] has done very well for us, and we still have Carl Cort and [Lomana] LuaLua flew off to the Congo."
