Manchester City and Middlesbrough have also both declared an interest in the 25 year-old Icelandic striker, but according to reports in his home country, a move to St James's Park would be preferred option.
Eidur is expected to be sold for around £5 million, and Robson, who has been a long-time admirer of him, feels that he will add some more balance to his attack.
Despite being linked with a move abroad, it is likely that Eidur will stay in England.
