Ambrose: I'm no Nobby

AMBROSE: I'M NO NOBBY

Ambrose explained: "It is going to be a massive challenge for me to replace a player like Nobby Solano.

"He was loved by the fans and he was loved by the players as well, but he has gone now and we have to get on with it the best we can.

"I know there is a lot of pressure on me because of how popular he was. Some fans were angry when he was sold, but I hope they don't make me the scapegoat.

"A lot of people will be watching me very closely, but I've got to cope with it and make the best of the opportunity which has been given to me.

"The fans were great to me at Birmingham, even though it was hardly my best game ever. I hope they continue to support me because I want to be a big success at Newcastle."

On this subject, manager Sir Bobby Robson said: "It may ake time but, sure, he can be as popular. I know he's (Solano) a popular player, and he's a clever little player. Nobby is a marvellous player. With Darren, he's our future and we've got to look ahead."
