STEAD - THE NEW SHEARER
|
Stead, who joined Blackburn for £1.25 million from Third Division Huddersfield last week, scored his second goal in two games last night.
His strike canceled out Craig Bellamy´s opener with just 5 minutes left, to give the Rovers a point and left Newcastle to ponder about three lately-conceded goals in the last 3 games!
The 20-year-old striker bagged an excellent far-post finish from the tightest of angles following a Paul Gallagher cross.
Souness said: "It was a really aggressive finish. When the ball left Gally´s foot he was going to make sure that the ball ended up only in one place - in the back of the net. It was rather like a throwback to Alan Shearer, the old master at the other end who showed again what a fantastic player he is - the best there has been in my time, he´s just horrible to play against."
