Newcastle United have made a new contract offer to Scottish midfielder Brian Kerr, according to the player himself.

KERR - NEW DEAL

He revealed: "My next decision is going to be a big one, the boss wants me to look at a new contract and has made it clear that he wants me to stay.

"But to be honest I have heard it all before and I know it's time to start playing every week. I don't think it's going to happen at Newcastle.

"There are five or six First Division sides looking at me and I have had several offers which are very appealing.

"I should have been away (on loan), it was just for a month and I would have been able to put myself in the shop window, both for other clubs to see and for Newcastle.

"But yet again I have been told that I can't go, it has happened so many times now that I have learned to deal with it. I understand the gaffer may need me but it's frustrating.

"Hopefully I can get something sorted and go on loan somewhere before the end of the week."

He added: "I did well in my first game back and my leg felt good. I know there a number of teams trying to sign me and it is good to know that my ability is being recognised.

"But this is a big decision and I know that it won't do me any good to rush into a deal that is not best for me, I will take my time and make sure it is the right one.

"It doesn't look as if I will be at Newcastle next season but you can never rule anything out in football."
