Lee Bowyer is set to make a return for Newcastle this weekend when Boro make their way to St James’ Park. The Midfielder hasn’t started the first 11 since November 2003 when he was taken injured with a hip injury, which caused great concern amongst the Newcastle Team

The Midfielder hasn’t started the first 11 since November 2003 when he was taken injured with a hip injury, which caused great concern amongst the Newcastle Team.

Specialists have evaluated his situation and after a series of injections and with no problem reactions to them he has been back in training – preparing himself for the first team.

"I haven't had any reaction from it, so hopefully everything is all right now, and I'll be involved in our next game."

The former Leeds star is looking forward to siding against Middlesboro but faces competition as Dyer (who has been named as part of the England squad for this weeks friendly against Portugal) and Ambrose both look to take Former Newcastle player Nolberto Solano’s place on the right.

"It's been frustrating, I thought I was getting back to full fitness and playing quite well when it happened…. It was a weird one, but then again I don't seem to get normal injuries…. I had an injection and gave it time to settle down and I've been able to train for the last couple of weeks now.”
