Defender Offered Magpies' Deal

NEW DEAL FOR ANDY

Robson said: "There'll be a new deal for Andy if he carries on like this.

"He's contracted until 2007 but if he turns out to be an outstanding, dependable player of real Premiership quality, then the chairman will be able to improve his contract.

"I didn't see Andy's performance against Ronaldo but I've certainly heard about it. He's come good. Having been a bit nervous, he's now starting to look like a very accomplished player.

"He's got good pace and heading ability but just needs to be more adept on the ball; to not be afraid to have the ball, to bring it out of defence and to pass it."
