LUALUA HAPPY TO SCORE

The DR Congo international's netted a volley in the 89th minute to give Pompey another point towards Premiership survival.

The goal has angered many Newcastle fans who believe that Lua Lua shouldn't have even played the game. However, the striker believes that his goal was brought on by some divine inspiration.

LuaLua said: "I just wanted to praise my god for my goal today. I've got nothing to prove but to myself and it was really good to score.

"Only god knows, the scripture was written and it happened. Thank god, he answered my prayers.

"For me personally, I wanted to score a goal today. I just wanted to go out there and enjoy myself.

"We are not a bad team and we want to stay in this league. The lads performed so well today."

LuaLua was disappointed to leaving St James' Park on loan, but is now looking to make the most of his move, and believed he deserved to celebrate his equaliser with his trademark somersault celebration.

He recieved some stick from the travelling Magpies fans, but LuaLua added:

"I am trying to impress the manager (Harry Redknapp) here, even though I was disappointed to go out on loan.

"I didn't want to leave on loan from Newcastle but I wanted to come here and show what I can do.

"I apologise and my heart goes out to the Newcastle supporters but I got booed by the supporters in the crowd and I wondered 'What did I do wrong because they (the club) sent me out on loan?'

"I'm a striker and my job is to score goals and I did today."

When he was asked wether or not he would consider a permanent move to the South Coast (in the summer) the DR Congo skipper said:

"That's up to the manager (Redknapp)."
