Newcastle United officials are working overtime behind the scenes in an attemt to get Lee Bowyer's six-match UEFA ban scrapped.

PFA chief Gordon Taylor is also working on the appeal.
A Newcastle spokesman told the Evening Chronicle: "We are still fighting Lee Bowyer's corner because we feel that neither he nor the club have done anything wrong.
"Really it's an on-going situation and we have not given up hope, but we accept that nothing is likely to happen before our UEFA Cup tie with Valerenga tomorrow night."
