Newcastle Are Missing Woodgate

WE MISS WOODY - ROBSON

Woodgate is an outstanding central defender, and Robson's men have missed his influence at the back.

Signing from Leeds Utd for £9 million, Woodgate has only featured in 16 of Newcastle's 38 games this season due to a combination of hamstring and hernia injuries.

Woodgate returned to the starting line-up for the Uefa Cup against Valerenga in midweek and is hoping to complete an extended run of games.

"It's been frustrating for both of us," Robson stated.

"I said to him the other day that he didn't have these problems at Leeds United - he hardly ever didn't play.

"We've got to get him on the pitch and get him to stay on the pitch, but he's all right.

"He's a fine player. Jonathan is perhaps our single crack centre-half, and it's good to have him back."
