England cricket captain, Michael Vaughan, has claimed that their sensational Test Match victory over the West Indies was down to Newcastle United FC and their fitness work with fast bowler Steve Harmison.

WINDIES WICKETS DOWN TO NEWCASTLE!

Harmison, who is a Newcastle fan, aswell as a Durham CC paceman, produced a fine display as England dismissed the Windies for their lowest-ever total of 47. England won the test by 10-wickets. You are probably at this moment thinking what the hell this has to do with Newcastle United?!

Well, Harmison's wickets were a reward for a three month training programme with the Magpies' - who helped to increased his Harmison's fitness levels to such an extent that he was able to bowl 11 overs (unchanged) in the intense heat in Jamacia.

Vaughan said: "I must thank Newcastle United for whatever they've done for him over the last three months because he's come back fit and strong and showed what a huge asset he is to the team - his spell was just fantastic.

"Full credit to Steve because he arrived in the Caribbean full of fitness and full of enthusiasm and I've seen a real focus in his practice and work ethic over the last three weeks."
