If Newcastle defeat the Addicks, they will overtake Alan Curbishley's men and regain the fourth place in the Premiership - and will be in the driving seat for the final Champions League spot.
Craig Bellamy, Titus Bramble and Kieron Dyer are all struggling to be fit for the game.
Bellamy suffered a hamstring strain late on in Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Spurs, while Dyer is still recovering from a similar injury. Titus Bramble Bramble picked up a knee injury in training on Saturday.
Both Bramble and Bellamy are awaiting the results of scans.
This is a big blow to manager Sir Bobby Robson who is trying to get back into the race for a place in next seasons Champions League.
