The race is on to capture Chelsea Striker Mikael Forssell who is currently on loan at Birmingham. Forssell who is currently on fine form for Birmingham and is proving to be Chelsea’s top scorer this season with 16 goals in all competitions

Forssell who is currently on fine form for Birmingham and is proving to be Chelsea’s top scorer this season with 16 goals in all competitions, is looking for a permanent contract for next season.

With Liverpool, Fulham and Newcastle all in the running it could be a tough signing. It is said that as well as just three English Premiership clubs keeping their eye on him there is also interest from abroad concerning the 23 year old.

Mikael’s agent was recently quoted saying,

"A loan season at Birmingham was a great decision, but it's time to take the big step.

Liverpool and Newcastle are very keen on him if Chelsea are willing to sell Mikael.

But I don't believe that Chelsea would be willing to sell Mikael to one of their rivals like Liverpool or Newcastle. Fulham are also interested.

Mikael needs to be playing in the Champions League or in the Uefa Cup on a regular basis and he can't do that at Birmingham.”

Do you think Chelsea would sell to one of their rivals? – Or make a smaller deal with a club who aren’t challenging them in the league?
