French flyer Laurent Robert has put his recent spat with Sir Bobby Robson in to the past, and has expressed his wishes to stay on at Newcastle United - for at least two more seasons.

"SORRY" SAYS ROBERT

Robert had a touch-line bust-up with Robson and refused to shake his hand after being substituted against Real Mallorca, but now regrets the actions and claims that he apologised to Robson the next day.

"It all went well from the start, as we took a 1-0 lead, and were practically sure of qualification," said Robert.

"My manager decided to take me off and I did not understand why, especially as I had set up the goal.

"I was annoyed, yes, and when I went to the bench I refused his outstretched hand.

"The next day we had a talk. I said I regretted my gesture.

"I was maybe not at my best during the game, but everything is settled now."

Robert also commented on his consistent level of form at the club and expressed his desire to stay on at the Tyneside club.

"I have two more years to run on my contract with Newcastle and I think I will go through to the end of it," he added.

"I fell really good there, but I will have to see how things evolve.

"France does not hold any particular attraction to me."
