Magpies and Wales striker Craig Bellamy, who has netted five times in the Uefa Cup alraedy, has revealed that he is taking extra training in an attempt to boost his goal ratio at Newcastle.

BELLAMY AND HIS EXTRA TRAINING

Bellamy said: "I'm constantly trying to improve all aspects of my game but finishing is obviously the most important aspect of any striker's make-up.

"I know that in the past I have not scored as many goals as I would have liked to and it is something I am working on constantly. In training, I am always staying back afterwards for some one-on-one stuff with the keepers; it's something you can't practice enough.

"I thought the goal at Mallorca last week was me at my best, using my pace to get away and then producing a finish to beat the keeper. That is what I have got to keep doing because there's no point doing all the fancy stuff outside the box and then ending up with no finish.

"In order to be a good striker you have to hit the net on a regular basis and that is my aim between now and the end of the season. If I do that it will help us as we try to win the Uefa Cup and get fourth place in the league."
