Newcastle United and Wales striker Craig Bellamy has claimed that his side will benefit hugely from this week's 1-1 draw at PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Cup.

LESSON LEARNED

Speaking to the Evening Chronicle, Bellamy said: "I really believe we had a good European lesson out there. PSV have some high-quality players and there is still a lot of football to be played in this tie.
"In fact, I expect it to be a completely different game in the second leg next Wednesday.
"I love the way PSV and the Dutch play their football. They go for the patient build-up and that's why I like it so much. Mind you, I don't know if our fans would like us to play that way at St James' Park."
He added, "We knew we wanted that away goal and when we got it our attitude to the whole game changed.
"We did not push forward so much in the second half but we tried to hold on to a 1-1 result, with me dropping off into midfield to stop PSV coming forward with the ball.
"That meant my game changed once that ball went into the PSV net, but we were solid at the back and that was the most important thing.
"It was a great result but it is nowhere near being over. They will have to look for an away goal at St James' Park but if we can keep a clean sheet then we will be through."
