According to todays newspapers, Newcastle United are have lined up Jon Woodgate as Alan Shearer's successor as Magpies' captain.

Woodgate has been impressive recently, performing soundly at the back.

Newcastle boss Sir Bobby Robson thinks very highly indeed of the ex-Leeds defender that he will (apparantly) be giving the England international Shearer's armband next season.
