Sir Bobby said:
"I said it would be decided by a single goal before the tie, even before
the first leg, and that has proved to be the case.
"We made our set-pieces count over the two legs. JJ got the goal over
there from Laurent's free kick, and then on Wednesday Laurent has swung
in two great corners which Alan and Gary have put away.
"We really had to turn the screw after they got back into the game with
the penalty, and thankfully Gary got us the winner.
"At 2-1 we knew it was still finely balanced, but we hung on and Shay
Given made a good save to keep out Bouma's free kick late on and we went
through.
"It's a big win for us, but we haven't won anything yet and Marseille
will give us a tough test in the semi final.
"That tie will also be tight, again it wouldn't surprise me if one goal
settled it. My scouts Charlie Woods and David Mills were in Milan
watching the game, but any side that beats Inter at home and away will
obviously be a threat.
"We certainly won't be talking about finals or anything like that before
those two games."
All Newcastle need to do now however, is "Concentrate
on the game in hand, NOT the final!"
