Newcastle United Chairman Freddy
Shepherd suggested to BBC Radio 5 Live, that he will quit the St James'
Park based club as soon as they were to win some silverware.
Why? Because he wants to go out "on a
high".
Freddy said:
"Some other clubs would love to be where we are. We have turned a
disaster into a profit with progress in the UEFA Cup but the Champions
League is the place to be and we've got to make sure we are there this
season.
"We got knocked out by Partizan Belgrade and we have turned it around,
but at the end of the day the Champions League is where you want to be.
"But Newcastle is not a Leeds situation. The Newcastle's of this world
have no problem."
"The minute I get some silverware I'm
off, I'm retiring on a high. I just want to win something."
