Shola Ameobi is a huge doubt for tomorrow’s vital game against Aston Villa. He was taken off in a mid week reserves game against Hartlepool and my not finish the season.
The groin problem Shola has been carrying grew worse during the match on Thursday night and Sir Bobby has said that should the injury get any worse Shola will be ruled out for the remaining games.
“Both Titus and Shola have to be checked out, it's Shola's kicking muscle and if it goes he won't play again this season.”
This comes as a nightmare for the team who are left with Michael Bridges and young Michael Chopra.
Bramble is also struggling with injury after picking up a knee problem against PSV on Wednesday
Sir Bobby Robson said;
" Titus suffered a pretty nasty bang on the knee and couldn't train yesterday. We will check it out before the game. Otherwise Andy Griffin is still out. We're very fortunate to have so few injuries, to be honest. We just have knocks, bruises and abrasions but nothing serious.
There's a little bit of tiredness and the extra day is important for us. They give injuries one more day to get better."
However with just a few games to go Newcastle United need a fit squad to challenge their opponents.
The next few games are extremely important with Aston Villa tomorrow Newcastle will be looking for their third away win of the season and hoping that a fit Nolberto Solano doesn’t stand in their way. Then play Chelsea next Sunday. A big game for both teams!
