Dyer - Time At Newcastle United Up?
By Matthew Jones
May 9 2004
Kieron Dyer - we don't seem to miss him when he is out of action and he doesn't seem to make an impact when he does play. We have JJ, Bowyer and Ambrose coming along quite nicely, so where could you fit Dyer in? I would quite happily see him leave. Read more views from several of our regular users.
0ne Eyed Burglar:
I know many of us have had enough of Dyer, his lifestyle, his injuries, his big mouth, his failure to turn potential into talent, his lack of goals and above all else he seems to be the ringleader of the youngsters, well one thing struck home in Marseille:
I think everyone is in the same boat, I never heard anyone say a good word about him and I think his time is up.
I think at 25 now he needs to have a look at himself pre-season or f**k off, Ive had enough of him and his ego personally and I think the majority (and I mean 95% from what I hear from people) are of the same feeling.
Is he on his way out?
Have you had enough?
groundhogdaze:
I would quite happily wave him goodbye, If JJ returns to the player we know he can be, Bowyer starts to show us the player he was at Leeds and Ambrose progresses where do you play Dyer?
Y I Man:
I remember realising this after reading it somewhere this morning. Hes no longer a young improver at 25 is he? Michael Owen is younger than Dyer!
I don't believe we have a natural place to fit him in the team any more - he just doesnt work at centre midfield, right winger, right back or support striker.
We don't miss him when hes out. Time to get rid of him, his attitude and his big mouth.

I've had enough of Dyer's ego, Robert's attitude, Bramble's mistakes and our lack of creativity. Our defence are hitting too many long balls when things are not going well. Also, i hate this bull**** comin from robson's mouth talking about how we were almost relegated five years ago when we're on a poor run- I don't want robson to go but how many more years is he going to keep bringing that up.
Yes, Viana played badly on Thursday but Robert's been like that all season. We need to get rid of our prima donnas like Dyer, Bramble (relegate to subs/reserves) and especially Robert to move forward. I thought are passion and commitment were spot on against chelsea but to be honest they had the better chances. It's good to have passion it's also good to have skill, and it's even better to have both. That's what our aim should be to compete against the top three. Bringing in Smith and Malbranque should go a long way in achieving that.
Given, Woodgate, Bernard, Speed, Shearer and Bellamy are our best players (Bowyer, Jenas and Ameobi will get there) while the rest would hardly get a sniff for the top four or even most premiership clubs. We have to spend this summer on proven quality or else we'll end up with a team full of young players, like Dyer, who are content on picking up wages for doin f**k all.

I definately agree with this - when we buy we need to buy talent and experience not youngsters who may or may not make it - we have learnt in the past that sometimes this works and others it doesnt lets learn from those mistakes.
